Sichan Siv, the internationally best-selling author of Golden Bones (published by HarperCollins) and former United States ambassador to the United Nations, will present a lecture titled “From the Killing Fields to the White House” at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 at UTEP’s Undergraduate Learning Center, Room 126.

In honor of national Earth Science Week, the Department of Geological Sciences invites the El Paso community to Earth Science Day on Sunday, Oct. 14 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Geological Sciences Building.

From Sunday, Oct. 14 through Saturday, Oct. 20, the UTEP campus will be alive with arts and culture, athletic, educational, networking, and family-friendly events, culminating in a weekend of tailgating and football.

Ability Awareness Week: Welcoming Reception, Keynote Speaker and Awards
UTEP’s Center for Accommodations and Support Services (CASS), formerly The Disabled Student Services Office, will host a series of events in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The week will kick off with a reception and presentation at 8:30 a.m. in the Tomás Rivera Conference Center. Alef Gutierrez, Walgreens district manager will present “Hiring People with Disabilities as a Corporate Social Responsibility.” Challenge and Opportunity Awards will be presented and the UTEP Beta Phi Chapter – an international honor society for students with disabilities – will be introduced.
