UTEP to Join With Chihuahua Technical College to Help High-Risk Youth

The University of Texas at El Paso will sign a collaboration agreement with the Center of Assistance and Technological Services (CAST) at El Colegio de Educación Profesional Técnica del Estado de Chihuahua (CONALEP), the Technical Professional College of Education of the State of Chihuahua, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 in the President’s Conference Room in UTEP’s Administration Building. 

The goal of the agreement is to promote employment for high-risk youth through technical professional training. UTEP and CONALEP-CAST will share human resources, infrastructure and facilities to develop training courses to be held at CONALEP-CAST in Juárez and at UTEP.  

State General Director for CONALEP Felipe de Jesús Gonzalez Bermudez and UTEP President Diana Natalicio will sign the agreement.  

UTEP and CONALEP will establish collaboration methods for technological development and innovation, create work groups to research significant regional issues and propose solutions, and establish a network of potential financial sources for the projects.  

CONALEP is an education institution that forms part of the Mexican national system of technological education. CAST is a training center specializing in the latest advanced technology.
