A statewide organization that is a major promoter of teacher education goals recently honored Josefina V. "Josie" Tinajero, Ed.D., dean of UTEP's College of Education, for her outstanding contribution in the field of teacher education.
The Texas Association of Teacher Educators named Tinajero the recipient of the 2012 Ted Booker Memorial Award during the annual Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher Education Conference in Austin.
Tinajero, an educator for almost 40 years, is an international expert in the fields of bilingual education and teacher preparation. She earned her bachelor's ('73) and master's ('76) degrees at UTEP. She has worked at the University in numerous academic and administrative capacities since 1981.
